The main differences between land plants and seaweed is that  Land plants require a rigid structure cable of withstanding the constant pull of  gravity, which marine plants do not need. Instead they do need a flexible structure to accommodate the varying stresses as result of current and wave motion.

Due to the different environment compared the properties of seaweed do differ from land based plants. Life actual arose in the Sea, to start the long line of evolution that links plant, animals, humans and still reflected in all living processes and seaweeds are much older than plants.

After leaving the sea, obtaining enough minerals has been a challenge to plants, animals, including mankind. In fact; no minerals no vertebrate life, and because our body cannot produce any mineral we have to get it from outside. With the almost unlimited access to mineral resources gone when we left the sea, the mineral and trace element in plants are just a fraction of these presents in seaweed, because the minerals are simply unavailable.

Minerals are required for all metabolic processes, most enzymatic functions depend on minute amounts of bioavailable trace minerals. The proper composition of the body fluids, formation of your blood & bones, and for healthy nerve function. Relying solely on land-based food sources often lead to deficiencies in micronutrients and trace elements. Because our bodies can not produce any minerals/trace elements and is dependent on food (external source) for it. The decline in the minerals content of many plants is for a part the result of Environmental changes that have lead to a increase in depletion of minerals and other organic compounds from our food with a steady deterioration in soil, air, and water quality.

Our Modern civilization is starving for essential nutrients/minerals which are increasingly lacking in our food chain. The phrase "over-fed but under-nourished"?
Seaweed on the other hand is packed with easy-to-absorb proteins, vitamins, minerals and lipids, it can protect against environmental pollution and ward off aging. It may provide the extra nutritional fuel that your overworked immune system so badly needs in today’s polluted, toxic world. Promotes and maintains optimum health by boosting and supporting all systems within the body.

The benefits of including seaweed's into a daily diet are extensive: increased longevity, enhanced immune functioning, revitalization of the cardiovascular, endocrine, digestive, and nervous systems, and relief from minor aches and pains. It is no wonder seaweed has been part of the traditional diet of all coastal cultures.
